2020: A Short Guide to Investing as a Nigerian & Novice in Finance

Dear Investors, or wannabes,

The Investment culture is one that is swiftly sweeping over the Nigerian space, which is a good thing ofcourse. I have always been excited about investment inclusion. Finally this is happening, investment is becoming a new kind of cool in Nigeria. It is becoming fashionable to own a few shares of public companies. Investment is becoming a trend.

However, unlike other trends such as fashion, technology, slangs and ideologies. An interest in participating in a trend in investment is one where you have to put your money where your mouth is. The market is one place where you can get really hurt blindly following the crowd.

It’s the reason the investment industry is one of those that is yet to be morally polluted and probably never will. You’ll only preserve your money and probably grow it if you do the right things. You can’t be a participant in the financial market doing the wrong things, at least not for so long. You’ll either lose all your money or lose just enough to get you running back to mama. The markets are unemotional and indifferent and can give cruel reactions to your stupidity.

That’s why my new concern in this investment trend in Nigeria is, are people doing it right?
